Meghan Markle to voice elephant movie

Meghan Markle will narrate a new Disney+ documentary about elephants in her first job since stepping down as a senior Royal.

Meghan Markle's first piece of work after stepping down as a senior member of the Royal Family will be as narrator of a documentary about elephants.

Elephant will premiere on Disney+ on April 3 and tells the story of "African elephant Shani and her spirited son Jomo as their herd make an epic journey hundreds of miles across the vast Kalahari Desert".

A synopsis for the film continues: "Led by their great matriarch, Gaia, the family faces brutal heat, dwindling resources and persistent predators, as they follow in their ancestor's footsteps on a quest to reach a lush, green paradise."

Markle and husband Prince Harry have previously spoken up in support of elephant welfare and the charity Elephants Without Borders, which is being supported by Disney with its work in Botswana.

Disney+ will also debut documentary Dolphin Reef, narrated by Natalie Portman, on April 3.
