Mat Horne expecting more Gavin & Stacey

Gavin & Stacey star Mat Horne says that he believes the comedy will be back for at least one more episode.

Gavin & Stacey star Mat Horne has said that he expects the show to return for at least one more episode in the future.

After an absence of 10 years the comedy returned for a Christmas special last year and was a huge success, drawing more than 18.5 million viewers.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, however, with Ness (Ruth Jones) getting down on one knee to propose to Smithy (James Corden).

"My personal view is I don't think that James and Ruth can possibly leave it where it is," Horne, who plays Gavin, told Digital Spy. "Because, you know, we left it on a cliffhanger and I don't think it would be right to leave it there."

Asked if creators Jones and Corden would be using the coronavirus lockdown to work on a script, he replied: "It's almost impossible really for James and Ruth to write any more at the moment considering the [lockdown] situation because they don't like to write remotely. They always have to be in the same room, and that's certainly not been possible for a long while now."

Speaking recently, co-star Larry Lamb said that it was a question of "when, not if" Gavin & Stacey will return.
