Hulu picks up rights to 'alternative history' Hillary Clinton book

US streaming service Hulu is reportedly developing the rights to an "alternative history" series centred around Hillary Clinton.

Hulu is reportedly developing an "alternative history" drama centred around Hillary Clinton.

The 72-year-old politician served as First Lady to Bill Clinton in the '90s and ran for the top job herself in 2016, suffering a shock defeat to Donald Trump.

Earlier this year, author Curtis Sittenfeld published Rodham, a fictional book that imagines a world in which Hillary never married Bill and entered political life as a single woman.

According to Variety, streaming service Hulu has optioned the novel and has enlisted House of Cards writer Sarah Treem to oversee the potential adaptation.

Hulu has history with the former Secretary of State, releasing the in-depth docuseries Hillary - shown in the UK on Sky Documentaries - in March.
