Filming suspended on 'Call The Midwife'

The executive producer confirms that filming of Call The Midwife has been postponed due to coronavirus.

Call The Midwife has become the latest production to be shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The drama is due to return for a Christmas special and its 10th series later this year but the status of the show is now up in the air after filming was postponed.

Dame Pippa Harris, executive producer on the series, said in a statement: "Very sadly, we have had to postpone the filming of this year's Call the Midwife Christmas Special and Series 10.

"Our priority is the safety of our amazing cast and crew, and we don't believe that shooting at the current time is feasible or responsible.

"However, the moment the situation improves, the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House will be back on their bikes, bringing babies and joy into your living rooms.

"We send our love to the worldwide Call the Midwife family, and look forward to being back in Poplar soon. On behalf of everybody at Call The Midwife, we wish you all good health."

Earlier this week the BBC suspended filming on all of its continuing dramas, including EastEnders, Casualty and Doctors.
