Charlie Brooker hints at uncertain future for Black Mirror

Charlie Brooker suggests that there will be no new episodes of Black Mirror for the foreseeable future.

Charlie Brooker has suggested that there may not be more new episodes of Black Mirror for the foreseeable future.

The three-episode fifth season, featuring stories starring Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott and Topher Grace, was released on the streaming service last June.

Since then, co-creators Brooker and Annabel Jones have left the company which owns the rights to the show - plunging it into an uncertain future, although Netflix are thought to be in talks to buy the rights for themselves.

Asked about new episodes of Black Mirror by the Radio Times, Brooker said: "I've been busy, doing things. I don't know what I can say about what I'm doing and not doing.

"At the moment, I don't know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I'm not working away on one of those. I'm sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I've been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh."

The first of those comedic projects will see Brooker return to BBC Two with his Antiviral Wipe one-off special next Thursday night.
