Channel 4 unveils Friday Night Dinner Night

Channel 4 will air a special night of programming to mark the 10th anniversary of Friday Night Dinner.

Channel 4 has announced plans for a special night of programming to mark the 10th anniversary of Friday Night Dinner.

The comedy, which stars Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Mark Heap, Tom Rosenthal and Simon Bird, debuted on February 25, 2011 and has since run for six series and 37 episodes.

The most recent series aired last Spring and averaged a massive 4.7 million viewers, more than double the audience of its previous series, while the show ranks as the second most-watched programme on All 4.

Friday Night Dinner Night will include a new 90-minute 'making of' documentary, You Look Nice: The True Story of Friday Night Dinner, featuring interviews with the cast, guest stars and celebrity fans.

The night will also feature three classic episodes, as chosen by a public vote, as well as outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage.

Frances Cuka and Rosalind Knight, who played Grandma and Horrible Grandma, both died in 2020 and are likely to be honoured with a tribute at some point during the evening.

Fiona McDermott, C4's head of comedy, said: "Over the past ten years Friday Night Dinner has become a critically-acclaimed, ratings and award-winning smash hit, with viewers loving our dysfunctional family as much as we do.

"We're looking forward to spending an evening giving them the celebration they deserve, so we hope you can virtually gather your Mum, Dad, Auntie Val and your socially awkward (and distanced) neighbour and enjoy a lovely little night with The Goodmans."

Creator Robert Popper recently revealed that there are currently no plans to make a seventh series of the show.
