C4 unveils Jamie Oliver coronavirus cooking show

Channel 4 announces a fast turnaround cookery show fronted by Jamie Oliver to help households deal with the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Channel 4 has announced details of a fast turnaround cookery show fronted by Jamie Oliver in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The UK is entering a period of government-enforced shutdown in an attempt to slow the progress of the deadly disease, forcing the majority of the population to remain indoors for the foreseeable future.

Jamie: Keep Cooking and Carry On will aim to help viewers throw together simple meals using store cupboard and freezer supplies, as well as giving advice on how to make staples from scratch, including basic bread dough and fresh pasta.

"Cooking nutritious meals for yourself and your loved ones has never been more important," said Oliver.

"This show will be packed with easy and delicious recipes that the whole family can enjoy, plus loads of tips, tricks and hacks for simple swaps and ways you can make the recipes work with what you've got. Let's big up those store cupboard and freezer faves and hero recipes you can take lots of ways."

The new show begins Monday at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
