Birds of a Feather to return for lockdown special?

Much-loved sitcom Birds of a Feather could be revived again for a lockdown special.

Birds of a Feather could reportedly be revived again for a one-off special set during the coronavirus lockdown.

The much-loved sitcom originally ran on the BBC between 1989 and 1998 before being brought back by ITV in 2014 for three series and several specials, the most recent of which aired at Christmas 2017.

During lockdown ITV has been reairing the series on Friday nights and, speaking on the Distinct Nostalgia podcast this week, stars Linda Robson (Tracey) and Lesley Joseph (Dorien) hinted that a new episode could be on the way.

"There was talk of one of me and Lesley on lockdown," said Robson. "The series is being repeated on ITV Friday nights at 8pm and at 8.30pm. So it's really nice for people who have not seen it before or people that are used to it can have another look and it will cheer them all up a bit."

Joseph, 74, added: "It could happen so let's see. We'd like to do that one. Out of 126 episodes or something one of my favourites was when it was just the three of us and we ended up driving to a Sunday market and it was a garage. You could almost do it on Zoom. It would be absolutely brilliant."

The pair were unclear whether the third star of the iconic trio, Pauline Quirke (Sharon), would take part in the potential reunion.
