BBC 'orders celebrity version of Mary Berry's Best Home Cook'

The BBC reportedly orders a celebrity version of Britain's Best Home Cook for transmission later this year.

The BBC has reportedly commissioned a celebrity spinoff of Britain's Best Home Cook and plans to begin filming within the next couple of months.

The series, which was envisaged as the BBC's replacement for The Great British Bake Off, is fronted by Claudia Winkleman with judges including Mary Berry and Angela Hartnett.

The first run averaged 3 million viewers in May 2018 and a second series improved to an average of 3.6 million when it aired at the start of this year.

According to Broadcast, filming on a celebrity version will begin in the next couple of months, suggesting that the show could make it to air this side of Christmas.

The production is being undertaken in strict compliance with health and safety guidelines relating to coronavirus, with "extra care" being taken around Berry, who at the age of 85 is at increased risk from the disease.

The BBC has yet to officially confirm the commission.
