Anthony Head reacts to Little Britain removal

Little Britain star Anthony Head says that the show is "looking to evolve and learn" following its removal from streaming services last week.

Little Britain star Anthony Head has said that the show is "looking to evolve and learn" following its removal from Netflix and BBC iPlayer last week.

The resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement has led to pressure on broadcasters to examine historical content and re-evaluate whether it is appropriate viewing.

As a result the comedy sketch show was axed from UK on-demand services last week, with co-creators David Walliams and Matt Lucas subsequently apologising for their use of blackface to portray characters of different ethnicities.

Asked about the controversy on Good Morning Britain today, Head - a.k.a. Prime Minister Stevens on the show - said: "Matt and David have made a statement about it. Hopefully, we're always looking to evolve and learn.

"I think before we respond to anything or doing anything we should step back and consider, 'Is it fair? Is it necessary? Is it kind?'

"I think people will do things differently from now on. This whole period of history through COVID and the protests have made people reflect and I'm sure many people will do things differently from now on."

The negative publicity surrounding the show is said to have led Netflix to abandon plans to bring it back for a new "uncensored" series.
