A third Hocus Pocus movie is in development following the success of the second on Disney+.

Disney+ is working on plans for a third film in the Hocus Pocus series, it has been confirmed.

The original cult movie was released in 1993 and followed three witch sisters from the 17th century - played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy - who were resurrected in the present day.

A second film reunited the trio and was released last year as a Disney+ exclusive, garnering strong audience feedback and ranking as the streamer's most-watched film ever.

Now Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, has announced plans to complete the trilogy in an interview with The New York Times.

No further details have been disclosed - including writer, director, potential release date or casting, although Midler has previously said that she would be keen to reprise the role in future.
