Made In Chelsea's Liv Bentley admits that the realisation she was drinking too much led to her stepping back from the show.

Made In Chelsea star Liv Bentley has admitted that the realisation she was drinking too much resulted in her stepping back from the show.

The socialite is one of the E4 show's longest-standing stars, having appeared for the last eight years, but earlier this year she decided to take a break and was absent from the most recent series.

At the time a spokesperson for the broadcaster explained that she was keen to focus on her massage oil business JOMO, but now Bentley has revealed that the pressure to appear like her usual self in front of the cameras led to the decision.

"I was struggling with deciding whether to stay on the show or not," she told Pop Sugar. "The last series was really hard and speaking honestly, I was drinking a lot more than I normally do. I was drinking unnecessarily and to mask sadness.

"I was relying on booze to give me energy, make me feel happier, give me confidence - all the wrong reasons. I was trying to bring the energy to be the Liv that everyone thought I was.

"But inside, I was really unhappy, and that's why I [eventually] stopped drinking. But I'm still close with my friends who are on the show and our friendships have stayed the same."

Bentley has yet to confirm whether she will take part in the next series of the show, which is expected to air on E4 later this year.
