Laura Whitmore is said to be in talks to return as Love Island host this summer.

Laura Whitmore is reportedly in talks to return as Love Island host this year, despite reports that she was in line for the axe.

The 36-year-old - wife of the show's voiceover artist Iain Stirling - took over as presenter of the popular ITV2 series in January 2020, replacing the late Caroline Flack.

Love Island producers are planning several changes to freshen up the format for the next series and have already confirmed that the show will come from a brand new villa in a new area of Majorca.

Reports had suggested that Whitmore could also be ditched in favour of a new host, but according to The Sun, she is now in negotiations over a new deal.

"The bosses are very aware that the show's duty of care to its stars is under a lot of scrutiny," a source told the newspaper.

"The possibility of replacing her on the Love Island spinoff show, After Sun, was also mentioned. But that could have the same reception.

"The more cautious among the show bosses seem to be getting their way, and talks have now begun with Laura and her reps.

"It looks like she will be back this year, even though the vote in her favour is far from unanimous."

The new series is expected to begin on ITV2 in June.
