I'm A Celebrity's Welsh location revealed to be haunted castle?

The new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will reportedly be set at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

This year's UK-based series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will reportedly be set at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

For the first time in its 18-year history the show is being moved from Australia to the UK due to coronavirus, and a report yesterday claimed that a ruined castle in Wales has been chosen as the location.

Now The Sun says that ITV has agreed a deal to take over Gwrych Castle for six weeks from November in order to prepare the venue, stage the series over three weeks and then make it safe to receive visitors again.

The castle is located on the North Coast of Wales, six miles west of Rhyl and around 40 miles away from Liverpool.

Gwrych is said to be haunted by the Countess of Dundonald, the angry wife of a former owner who died in the 1920s, as well as the ghost of a servant girl who died falling off a horse.

"A few people have claimed to have seen a floating woman in white," a castle worker told The Sun. "Ghost-hunters have also claimed to have felt the presence of her and gamekeepers.

"We think the Countess might be unhappy as her husband stripped the castle of valuables. They certainly didn't have a happy marriage."

Previous reports have suggested that producers will attempt to make the most of the new castle setting by adopting a 'medieval' theme for the new series, although Gwrych Castle was not built until 1810.

The building is set in 250 acres of gardens and woodland, which would be used for challenges and housing the production team, while the Irish Sea is also nearby.
