Jorgie Porter is reprising her role as Theresa McQueen after a four-year absence to mark Hollyoaks' upcoming 25th anniversary in a "huge storyline".
The soap returns to Channel 4 and E4 tonight after a coronavirus-enforced summer break, with the milestone birthday now fast approaching at the end of October.
Theresa was last seen in March 2016, moving to Spain with her two daughters, but returns to the village in upcoming episodes to reconnect with John Paul (James Sutton) and Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe).
"I was excited but obviously a bit nervous," said Porter of rejoining the show. "What if Theresa has gone out of my body and my mind?
"And the anticipation of coming back has taken so long because of lockdown but coming back felt just like home and as if I haven't even been away for five minutes.
"Everyone's still the same and they're all amazing and inviting. I've been on set a few times now and I've had the best time and Theresa has literally jumped right back in to my body and my mind as if she's never left."
Hollyoaks airs Monday to Thursday on Channel 4 and E4.
