Prue Leith: 'Paul Hollywood can eat anything and never get fat'

Prue Leith laments her fellow Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood's ability to 'eat anything and never get fat'.

Prue Leith has claimed that fellow Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood is able to eat "anything" he wants without worrying about putting on weight.

Each episode of the Channel 4 show is filmed over a two-day period and requires the pair to taste bakes from each of the contestants in three different rounds, with a peak of 36 dishes being eaten in the first episode alone.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Leith, 80, admitted that she often has to skip meals as a result of her judging commitments but envies Hollywood, who still has three meals a day regardless.

"People ask, how do I manage to eat all that sugar?" she said. "If you have 12 bakers in the tent doing two challenges a day, that is 24 teaspoons.

"If you are careful, you can get away with 600 calories [from the tastings], which means you can have dinner. You do have to skip breakfast and lunch, however.

"Paul and I both love it when we have a healthy bake challenge because it is such a relief from all the sugar we eat."

She added: "Paul can eat anything and never gets fat. It makes you want to kill him really."

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday nights at 8pm on Channel 4.
