First performers announced for Eurovision: Shine A Light

A host of former winners will perform as part of the upcoming Eurovision: Shine A Light special event.

The first wave of performers for the upcoming Eurovision: Shine A Light event have been announced.

The special live programme will air between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday, May 16 - the night the Eurovision Song Contest was due to take place before it was cancelled due to coronavirus.

The event plans to "honour" all 41 songs that were due to be part of the original show, albeit in a non-competitive format, while a host of acts from years past will deliver new performances.

2015's Swedish winner, Mans Zelmerlow, will perform 'Heroes', with 2007 Serbian victor Marija Serifovic reprising 'Molitva' and Gali Atari - part of 1979's winning act Milk & Honey - performing a new take on 'Hallelujah'.

Netta, winner for Israel in 2018, will debut a new song with "a special message about these unusual times" and reigning champion Duncan Laurence will premiere a new track from his upcoming album.

In the UK, the event will be preceded by another special, hosted by Graham Norton, that will give viewers the chance to vote on who they think should have won.
