Former Hollyoaks star James Farrar joins the cast of EastEnders as 'charismatic troublemaker' Zack Hudson.

EastEnders has announced the casting of James Farrar as 'charismatic troublemaker' Zack Hudson.

The actor has previously appeared in Hollyoaks, playing the role of Liam Gilmore between 2012 and 2013, and has also had parts in Call The Midwife and Silent Witness.

The character of Zack is described as "a lone wolf" with a troubled childhood that has left him with trust issues - but he's forever the ladies' man who will ruffle some feathers when he arrives in Albert Square.

"James is a wonderful addition to the EastEnders cast, playing the charming rogue Zack Hudson," said executive producer Jon Sen.

"We are all excited to see James bring the character to life and there's plenty of drama in store for him - trouble is always just around the corner!"

Farrar said: "I'm thrilled to be joining EastEnders. As a born and bred Londoner myself, I can't wait to bring my experience of a place I love and know to such a well-respected long-running show with such iconic characters.

"Zack certainly has a very complicated past and there is a real depth to him that I can't wait to explore."

Farrar will begin filming in February, with Zack first appearing on screens in March.
