Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has revealed that there will be rocky times ahead for her character Shona and husband David (Jack P Shepherd).
In scenes broadcast last week, David was seen paying a visit to Shona's son Clayton (Callum Harrison), who is in prison for the murder of David's ex-wife Kylie.
Clayton admitted that he was struggling with the guilt of what he had done, but David was dismissive of his apparent remorse and left - all without telling Shona about the visit.
Shona subsequently learned that Clayton had been hospitalised, and in this week's episodes it emerges that he had tried to commit suicide, with Shona also learning about the visiting order.
"Jack and I are very much on her own characters' sides in this," said Goulding, who has been on the Corrie cobbles since 2016.
"We've had barneys in the green room about who's right... David is to blame! When Shona finds out her husband has been gaslighting her and had a part in Clayton trying to take his own life, I dread to think what she's going to do. But I don't think she'll take it lying down!"
She continued: "There's going to be a lot of anger and pain, a possibility they could destroy each other.
"There's a lot of change already for David - his mum is leaving, the house might get sold, stress with the stolen money which Shona doesn't know about yet, it's like living in a washing machine!
"The sad thing is they've been so solid for so long Shona is David's final crutch. But he's destroyed it himself in my opinion. I really am Team Shona in this!"
