Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor has been made an MBE in the New Year's Honours List, weeks after the soap celebrated its landmark 60th anniversary.
The 57-year-old has played Sally Metcalfe in the serial since 1986 and has been honoured for her services to drama.
"I am humbled, grateful and very proud to have received this honour," she said. "I am still in shock.
"I didn't believe it was real when I first found out earlier this month that I was to be given an MBE. Keeping it a secret has been so difficult."
Elsewhere, veteran actress Sheila Hancock, 87, is made a Dame while Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton receives a knighthood.
Toby Jones becomes an OBE, while Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and actress Nina Wadia are given MBEs.
