Experienced broadcaster Nana Akua is the latest name to join the presenting team for new channel GB News.

Nana Akua has joined the presenting team at GB News ahead of the channel's launch in the coming months.

The experienced host has been working in the industry for almost three decades and for the last eight years has been with the BBC, where she has presented BBC Look East and BBC Radio.

Akua will host a primetime news and talk show for GB News on Friday and Saturday nights, while she will also be a regular face in the morning schedules.

"GB News is a fantastic opportunity to change the narrative for news and debate in this country," she said.

"I've been wanting to do programmes like this for ages and I knew at once that this was the right thing for me – I can't wait to get started."

The ambitious new channel's latest hire comes a day after it launched its test placeholder card on Freeview.
