Entertainment news channel LIT to launch in UK in March

Entertainment news channel LIT will reportedly launch in the UK in March.

Entertainment news channel LIT will reportedly launch in the UK in March after securing its first major distribution deal in the US.

The service - brainchild of former ITV entertainment controller Claudia Rosencrantz - launched via YouTube last year and went live on NBC's streaming service Peacock at 12pm ET (5pm UK) today.

Since last July the channel has been broadcasting live for three hours a day on YouTube and the new channel on Peacock will feature a daily live stream looped around the clock.

Over time the broadcaster plans to increase the number of live hours broadcast, as well as introduce acquired programming, as it secures additional distribution deals in the US and internationally.

According to Deadline, those plans include a UK launch in two months' time - although the publication does not indicate the launch platforms or whether the UK will have a tailored version of the service.

Sky is owned by NBC parent Comcast, suggesting that discussions over a launch on Sky may have also taken place while the Peacock deal was negotiated.
