BBC Sounds app launches on Sky Q

The BBC launches its app for the BBC Sounds service on Sky Q boxes around the UK.

The BBC has launched its BBC Sounds app via Sky Q around the UK today.

The service is home to the BBC's extensive library of audio content - including live and archive radio broadcasts, music mixes and original podcast series from the likes of Gemma Collins, Joe Wicks and Louis Theroux.

The launch of Sounds follows that of the BBC iPlayer app, which offers a wealth of live streams and on-demand content, on Sky Q at the end of 2019.

Patrick Behar, Sky's chief business officer, said: "I'm delighted to kick start the new year by adding the brilliant BBC Sounds app to the Sky Q mix.

"We know the value our customers place on BBC content so it's great that they can access the best of music, radio and podcasts alongside their favourite TV, in one place, easy."

Sky has significantly ramped up the number of apps available through Sky Q over the last 12 months, with Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Discovery+ all joining the likes of Netflix, YouTube and Spotify on the platform in 2020.
