Amazon Prime Video to launch via Sky Q?

Amazon Prime Video could launch as an app via Sky Q boxes in the near future.

The Amazon Prime Video service could be launching via Sky Q in the near future, it has emerged.

The on-demand service - available to Amazon Prime customers - has a library of thousands of films and TV series, including original commissions such as The Boys and All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur.

Prime Video also offers live coverage of sporting events, including ATP and WTA tennis tournaments, the rugby Autumn Nations Cup and some games from the Premier League.

Sky Q already allows customers to sign in and access Netflix, Disney+ and Discovery+ through their set-top boxes, and in a latest software update, analysis of the technical code reveals provision for an app with the ID "prime.video", suggesting that a launch of the service is imminent.

Amazon has the rights to show 10 midweek Premier League games from December 15 to December 17, as well as an entire round of festive games from December 28 to December 30, meaning that it is possible that the service could launch in advance of those fixtures.
