Alan Carr reportedly emerges as the favourite to fill the vacant spot on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel.

Alan Carr has reportedly emerged as the favourite to fill the vacant spot on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel.

A new fourth judge will join the lineup in 2023 after David Walliams decided to step down last November amid a scandal involving leaked recordings in which he made disparaging remarks about contestants.

According to The Sun, comedian and RuPaul's Drag Race judge Carr has now been selected to join Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the new series.

"Alan is joining the lineup, it just has to be him - he's brilliant," a source told the newspaper.

"The deal is being finalised, but it's [minor] details now - and he's totally up for it too. It's the perfect hiring all round."

Filming of the new series is due to begin later this month for broadcast on ITV from April.
