Channel 5 head has no regrets over axing Big Brother

Channel 5 head Ben Frow insists that he has no regrets about axing Big Brother two years ago.

Channel 5 head Ben Frow has insisted that he has no regrets over his decision to axe Big Brother two years ago.

The seminal reality show had been a cornerstone of the Channel 5 schedule since moving from Channel 4 in 2011 but Frow took the controversial decision to axe it, along with Celebrity Big Brother, in 2018 and it has been off British screens since.

Frow appeared at the Edinburgh TV Festival today and in response to a question posed by Media Mole revealed that he has "never" regretted the move while also ruling out commissioning reality shows in the same vein in the future.

"Right now I couldn't afford it," he said. "I think the world is very crowded with reality shows, I think there are supreme reality shows out there.

"Don't go where you can't be the best, turn left and find an alternative."

To mark 20 years since Big Brother first aired in the UK, E4 rebroadcast some classic episodes earlier this summer but there have so far been no concrete plans to revive the show for a new series.
