American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy reveals that he is developing a spinoff series.

Ryan Murphy has revealed that he is working on an American Horror Story spinoff show during the coronavirus lockdown.

The anthology horror series was due to begin filming its 10th season last month but production was brought to a halt due to the spread of the deadly disease.

Posting on Instagram, Murphy revealed that he had held a Zoom conference call with key cast members, including Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates.

The showrunner said that the group had discussed "the spin off we're doing called 'American Horror Stories' (one hour contained episodes)...when we will start filming the next season of the mothership...and other stuff I cannot print."

According to Deadline, the spinoff - American Horror Stories - is "a companion anthology series to AHS where each episode is a standalone ghost story".

The main show has already been renewed through to its 13th season.
