Jason Garrett not focused on future

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is focused on the present despite being given reassurances about his future by team owner Jerry Jones.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has insisted that he is not looking beyond the next game as his side aim to reach the playoffs this season.

The Cowboys are currently second in the NFC East with a 5-5 record, and owner Jerry Jones admitted that he was disappointed with his side's performance so far this season.

Jones also confirmed that Garrett would remain in charge of the Cowboys next year even if his side don't reach the playoffs this season, but the 47-year-old coach is only focused on the present.

"We're talking about practicing well today. That's what we're going to focus on and that's something we emphasize to our team," Garrett told reporters.

"That's something we have to live as a coaching staff. We understand we have a great challenge this week and we're trying to get ready for it."

The Cowboys face a potentially crucial encounter with divisional rivals the New York Giants on Sunday.
