Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to sign Sporting Lisbon attacker Trincao during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Sporting Lisbon attacker Trincao this summer.

The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for the Green and Whites during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring nine times and registering 15 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, including eight goals and 12 assists in 26 fixtures in Portugal's top flight.

Trincao has previous experience of playing in England, representing Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan from Barcelona during the 2021-22 campaign, making 30 appearances for the club, including 28 outings in the Premier League.

The attacker found it difficult to make his mark at Molineux, only contributing three goals and one assist, but he has been in excellent form since moving to Lisbon, managing 32 goals and 29 assists in 143 appearances.

According to The Mirror, Amorim has identified Trincao has a priority target during the summer transfer window, and the Portugal international is wanted in a deal which would be worth £30m.

Man United 'eyeing £30m summer deal for Trincao'

The report claims that Man United will be in the market for at least one new wide player this summer, as Marcus Rashford is set to leave on a permanent basis, most likely to Aston Villa, who can sign him on a permanent basis for £40m.

Antony, meanwhile, has excelled on loan at Real Betis since a winter move, and the Brazilian could join Manuel Pellegrini's side on a permanent basis during the upcoming market.

Jadon Sancho is also set to complete a £25m switch to Chelsea, with the Blues having an obligation to buy him at the conclusion of his loan, although it has recently been claimed that the capital outfit are considering paying £5m to cancel the agreement.

Man United are in a delicate financial position, but their outgoings are expected to put them in a position to make signings this summer, and Trincao, who scored twice for Portugal in their 5-2 success over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday night, is said to have emerged as a priority attacking target due to his impressive performances.

Would Trincao be a good signing for Man United?

Sporting are expected to find it incredibly difficult to keep hold of Trincao this summer, with Arsenal and Newcastle United also believed to be keen to bring him to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are said to have included a buy-back option in the deal that took him to Sporting from Camp Nou in 2023, so Man United will seemingly face fierce competition for his signature.

It is not difficult to understand why the Red Devils would keen on Trincao, who is an incredibly versatile forward, operating in a number of different positions for Sporting this season.

Crucially, he is capable of playing as a number 10 in a 3-4-3 system, making him perfect for Amorim's set-up, while he has also been used through the middle this term, scoring four times and registering two assists in 12 matches as a starter from that area.

Man United will also not need to break the bank to sign the Portuguese this summer, and he could follow in Bruno Fernandes' footsteps to become an incredibly important player for the 20-time English champions.
