Mark Bosnich: 'Iker Casillas exit sets up David de Gea to Real Madrid move'

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes that Iker Casillas's exit from Real Madrid will pave the way for David de Gea to move to the Bernabeu.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has said that he believes David de Gea will leave the club to join Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu, although Madrid are reportedly yet to lodge a formal bid, while De Gea has been included in the United squad for their pre-season trip to America.

However, Bosnich thinks that the exit of long-serving keeper Iker Casillas to Porto will clear the path for De Gea to move to the Spanish capital.

"I think he will join Real Madrid because of the fact Casillas has cleared the way," he told talkSPORT.

"Real Madrid will want a world class goalkeeper and David De Gea is that. It is quite significant that Iker Casillas has left and I think that paves the way for David De Gea to go."

De Gea, 24, will be out of contract next summer.
