Children In Need single heading for number one

The charity cover of 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' for Children In Need is on track to top the UK singles chart.

The all-star charity single in aid of Children In Need is on course to claim top spot in this week's UK singles chart, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

The cover of Oasis's 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' features vocals from the likes of Cher, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams and holds a lead of 8,000 chart sales based on the first 48 hours of the window.

Should it hold on come Friday, the song will become the eighth Children In Need single to hit the top spot and it will also outperform the Oasis original, which peaked at number two in 2002.

Billie Eilish is currently at number two with 'Therefore I Am', just ahead of Ariana Grande's incumbent chart-topper 'Positions'.

Elsewhere, Baccara's 1970s disco classic 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' is set to re-enter the chart following Scotland's qualification for Euro 2020 last week.

The squad celebrated by singing and dancing to the track in their dressing room after the win, prompting fans to start streaming the song, which is currently at 18 in the midweeks.
