BTS in running for first UK singles number one

K-Pop sensations BTS could claim their first UK number one single with 'Life Goes On', midweek sales data suggests.

K-Pop sensations BTS are in with a serious shot of nabbing a UK number one single this week with new track 'Life Goes On', according to midweek data from the Official Charts Company.

The seven-piece debuted the new song on Friday to coincide with their new album BE and after the first 48 hours of sales, it is tracking at number two on the singles chart.

'Life Goes On' - a follow-up to summer hit 'Dynamite', which peaked at three - is currently just 600 sales behind Ariana Grande's 'Positions', which has been at the summit for the last four weeks.

Miley Cyrus is on course for another top 10 hit with 'Prisoner', a team up-with Dua Lipa, which is at number six, one place above Dua Lipa's own 'Levitating'.

Just on the outskirts of the top 10 is 'Monster', a duet about "self-love" from Canadian pop powerhouses Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber.

Elsewhere, The Pogues' Christmas classic 'Fairytale of New York' re-enters the chart at 16, while Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is at 17.
