Molly-Mae Hague has denied claims that her high-profile break-up from Tommy Fury was a "publicity stunt" to promote her new documentary series.

The pair met on Love Island in 2019 and went on to become one of the show's greatest success stories, spending more than five years together and welcoming a daughter, Bambi Fury, in 2023.

Last summer Hague and Fury announced that they had separated, however, and the tumultuous weeks that followed are documented in the new Prime Video series Molly-Mae: Behind It All.

"It's definitely so much more than a break-up documentary," she told press recently, in quotes carried by Radio Times. "Obviously we do talk about the break-up and we're very honest in what we share with the break-up.

"But it's so much more. It focuses on parts of my life that I haven't really delved into before."

Paparazzi pictures over the new year appeared to document Hague and Fury sharing a kiss, prompting speculation that they may be in the process of getting together - and more cynical claims that their split was engineered for the purpose of the documentary.

"I think that for me, above everything, has been the most frustrating part," she continued. "I actually say in the documentary I wish it was a publicity stunt, because it'd be a lot easier, because going through all of this with the turmoil of a break-up has been incredibly hard, and I think to have those comments, and I do see the comments, I see all of them.

"People say, 'This has obviously just been done for launch of your brand or a publicity stunt.' That is very painful to me, because it's real life. Tommy and I have a baby together, and it's a really hard thing that we've both gone through the last six months. And I wish it was a stunt because it would have been a lot easier. But it isn't."

Molly-Mae: Behind It All premieres Friday, January 17 on Prime Video.
