The Wanted's Max George reportedly signs up for The Games after Mark Wright dropped out of the show.

The Wanted singer Max George has reportedly joined ITV's forthcoming competitive reality series The Games.

The show - a reboot of an old Channel 4 format - will see 12 celebrities take part in a host of Olympic-style events such as diving and track races.

Ex-TOWIE star Mark Wright was one of the celebs who originally signed up for the show but last week it was alleged that he had dropped out of the lineup after the first day of filming last month.

According to The Sun, ITV has now signed his replacement with singer and actor George, who ironically is the ex-fiancé of Wright's wife Michelle Keegan.

"Max has been drafted in to replace Mark on the show and it's caused a real stir," a source told the newspaper.

"For some it's become a joke behind the scenes at ITV. If they can't have Michelle Keegan's husband – they'll have her former fiancé.

"It seems like it's a clear message to Mark for leaving them in the lurch.

"His decision to walk out left a really bad taste in their mouth. Now they're having a good old laugh about it – and Max is the cherry on the cake."

The Games will be stripped over five nights on ITV later this spring.
