Friends actor Matthew Perry has been discovered dead at the age of 54 after a suspected drowning.
The comedy star was discovered in a jacuzzi at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday evening, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.
The publication says that there was no sign of drugs at the scene of the incident, nor did there appear to be any signs of foul play.
Warner Bros. TV, which produced Friends, issued a statement which read: "We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry.
"Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family.
"The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many.
"This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans."
Perry rose to fame in the '90s playing Chandler Bing on the hugely successful comedy and went on to star in shows such as Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Mr. Sunshine and a reboot of The Odd Couple.
The actor had spoken candidly about his battles with alcohol and drugs, however, although he is believed to have been sober for at least two years at the time of his death.
Perry, who was never married and had no children, is survived by his parents - Canadian journalist Suzanne Marie Morrison and the actor John Bennett Perry, as well as his stepfather, the journalist Keith Morrison.
