House of the Dragon made a strong start in the ratings for Sky Atlantic on Monday, according to early figures.
The Game of Thrones prequel series - starring Paddy Considine and Matt Smith - was simulcast on the channel at 2am, the same time the programme played out on HBO in the US.
The episode was then made available on-demand via Sky and Now, with a further showing on Sky Atlantic at 9pm that night.
According to Variety, some 991,000 watched the episode either live at 2am or on-demand throughout the day, while the evening broadcast brought in a further 394,000 - taking the first-day total to almost 1.4 million.
In the US, the show managed a mammoth 9.99 million viewers combined on HBO linear and HBO Max streaming.
