Simon Cowell reveals that he is hoping to bring back The X Factor after four years off the air.

Simon Cowell has said that he hopes to get The X Factor back on air in short order.

The talent show spent 15 years at the heart of ITV's Saturday night autumn schedules but was quietly dropped after 2018 amid flagging ratings.

Last year it emerged that Cowell had been considering taking the format to another broadcaster, potentially one of the streaming services, and now he has admitted that he is itching to get it back on air.

"I'm not going to lie, I would love to do The X Factor again. I do miss it," he told The Mirror.

"I also miss it because it did create a lot of stars. Sometimes when you've got something good, you can always refresh it. That is probably where my head is at right now."

The format remains active in 10 countries around the world, including Italy, Greece and Colombia.
