Australia's first openly-gay top-flight footballer Josh Cavallo has been confirmed as one of the guest judges on the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under.
The 23-year-old, who plays as a left-back for Adelaide United, broke fresh ground in 2021 when he came out at a time when there were no other openly-out gay men playing top-flight football in the world.
Now Cavallo will join RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Rhys Nicholson on an episode of the new season of Down Under, with other guest judges confirmed to include singer Adam Lambert, Love, Simon star Keiynan Lonsdale and New Zealand model Rachel Hunter.
Cavallo said: "As the only openly gay male professional footballer currently playing top-flight football in the world, I'm a big fan of embracing your true self, but for many in sport and the queer community this is really difficult to do.
"This is why RuPaul's Drag Race is so important, because it inspires queer people to be their authentic self, and allows drag to become more accepted and celebrated like it should be."
The new season of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under launches in the UK on iPlayer next Friday, July 28, with new episodes dropping weekly.
