Watch: 'Kimmy Schmidt' returns for interactive special

Watch the trailer for the new interactive Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special, 'Kimmy vs. The Reverend'.

Netflix has confirmed that the one-off interactive episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be released on May 12.

The comedy, starring Ellie Kemper in the titular role, ended its run after four seasons in January 2019 but later that year it was confirmed that a new bonus episode was being planned.

Titled 'Kimmy vs. The Reverend', the new episode will make use of technology previously used for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch to allow viewers to pick how the story unfolds.

Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane and John Hamm will all reprise their roles in the episode, while Daniel Radcliffe has been confirmed in a guest role.

In a synopsis, Netflix teased: "Kimmy Schmidt sets off on her biggest adventure yet. Three states! Explosions! A dancing hamburger! And you, the viewer, get to decide how the story goes.

"Will you foil the Reverend's evil plan and get Kimmy to her wedding on time? Or will you accidentally start a war against the robots? So grab your remote and a tray of delicious scrod, 'cause Kimmy's got her own Netflix interactive special!"
