Captain Tom Moore's fundraiser reaches £20 million mark

Captain Tom Moore's fundraising walk for the NHS passes an astonishing £20 million.

Captain Tom Moore's inspirational walk for the NHS has now raised more than £20 million.

The incredible feat was achieved in just one week and smashes the record for a JustGiving fundraiser by more than £15 million.

The 99-year-old had vowed to walk 100 laps of his back garden before his 100th birthday later this month in an effort to raise funds for NHS workers battling the coronavirus crisis on the frontline.

Moore achieved that goal yesterday but has vowed to continue walking as long as the public continue to donate.

The £20 million milestone was achieved at 7.45pm tonight thanks to donations from more than 975,000 people around the world.
