A surprise act will reportedly perform at tonight's grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

The UK is hosting the event on behalf of 2022 victors Ukraine, whose winning act Kalush Orchestra will open the show at the M&S Bank Arena.

Once all 26 competing acts have performed, the UK's 2022 representative Sam Ryder will take to the stage for a performance, accompanied by the legendary Roger Taylor on drums.

Six of the most memorable Eurovision acts from over the years, including Sonia, Dadi Freyr and Duncan Laurence, will then perform iconic Liverpool songs.

According to the Liverpool Echo, another big-name act - not yet announced by the BBC - will also perform during the interval.

The star in question has been taking part in rehearsals of their performance but the set has been completely closed off in order to preserve the surprise.

Fans on social media have speculated that the surprise performer could be Sir Paul McCartney, one of Liverpool's most famous exports, while others have suggested Kylie Minogue or a less-likely reunion of the Spice Girls.
