Shortlist for BAFTA TV Moment of the Year Award revealed

The six nominees for the Bafta TV Awards' 'Must-See Moment' category are revealed.

The six contenders for the BAFTA TV Awards' 'Must-See Moment of the Year' category have been revealed.

The award is the only one to be voted for by the British public at the prestigious ceremony, which was due to take place last month but will now go ahead at the end of July in a "virtual" format due to coronavirus.

The nominations are:

Coronation Street: Sinead's death
Moving scenes broadcast at the end of last year charted the final moments of young mother Sinead (Katie McGlynn) as she lost her battle with cancer

Fleabag: Confessional scene
The priest is forced to choose between faith and love as Fleabag battles with her own demons

Game of Thrones: Ayra kills the Night King
In the climactic finale, Ayra takes a dagger to the Night King's chest to save Westeros

Gavin & Stacey: Nessa proposes
After a 10-year break, the Christmas special ends with a shock scene as Nessa suggests marriage to Smithy

Line Of Duty: John Corbett's death
Undercover cop John is double-crossed and brutally slit in the throat

Love Island: Michael recouples
With the girls away in Casa Amor, Michael has his head turned by a new girl, leaving Amber to return alone

TV critic Caitlin Moran, who helped compile the shortlist, told the PA: "Now, more than ever, we have needed the sense of escape, truth, community and joy that the best television delivers, and we are talking about it everywhere: on the sofa, on Twitter, and at a safe distance of two metres whenever we meet up."

"So whether you were shouting 'Get in there, Arya!' as she went head-to-head with the Night King, tweeting 'Gngngngngn' at the hot priest in Fleabag, or finding yourself, unexpectedly, bursting into tears when Nessa proposed to Smithy, it's now over to you to decide on which moment truly 'won the telly'."

Voting is now open on sponsor Virgin Media's website.
